Project Overview

I led the motion design direction for Lunar Gala, shaping a cohesive visual and motion language across a large-scale live event and its digital extensions. I directed and mentored a team of motion designers, providing creative guidance, feedback, and quality oversight throughout production.

Working closely with art directors and leads across web, print, marketing, and production, I ensured visual and thematic consistency across all touchpoints. Together, we produced 3D and animated visuals that translated the event’s identity seamlessly from physical spaces to digital platforms.

Backdrop Designs

Developed and guided the production of 3D animations shown as dynamic backdrops during model walkouts, transforming fashion designers’ concepts into immersive motion visuals.

Concept / Marketing Assets

Used Cinema 4D and After Effects to visualize a structure evolving from wireframe to completion, and created supporting marketing assets leading up to the event.

Reflection

As the motion team lead, I wanted to find ways for everyone to have creative freedom. Leading a team new to Cinema 4D, I created tutorials and templates, facilitating creative exploration while providing guidance during weekly progress reviews. We communicated with designers for each clothing line to make sure visuals are aligned with their intentions as well.

When delivering the final show backdrop assets, I rendered a lot of motion team’s work and retouch them due to computing power limitations. I rendered and optimized assets within hardware constraints, achieving a balance between quality and feasibility. The project’s collaborative and leadership challenges deepened my appreciation for managing creative teams and fostering growth.
